Epic Planet is about to be born. After months of hard work, stories, and dreams, we are now just days away from a launch that promises to be the start of something extraordinary.
My wife and I were relaxing in a small café in Lisbon, recovering from the hustle of our daily work and the effort of building this dream. I knew I still needed to write a few blog posts, and several ideas were swirling in my mind, intertwining, getting tangled, and sometimes ending abruptly.
The place was lovely and quiet. We were sitting side by side on a long cushioned bench. There was background music playing, and although we were outdoors, the November chill had yet to hit us hard.
It seemed like a perfect moment to share my ideas for the blog articles with her and express my frustration at not being able to clearly define what to say. These were the first posts, the ones that would make the first impression.
Patiently, as always, she listened. Then, with her usual mix of objectivity and warmth, she said:
- All of that is great, and you’ll share it eventually, but maybe not now. Let people imagine a little about what’s behind the stories. Let them create their own hypotheses and scenarios. You’ll have time to share your reality, and they can decide whether they prefer yours or the one they created themselves.
How about, for now, you simply introduce yourself? Let people know who you are, where you come from, where you are, why you write, and so on. The essentials, the basics, the starting point.”
I looked at her, and once again, she was right. Every good relationship starts this way—with a sincere and brief introduction. So, without further ado, and if you’ll allow me, here I go:
I’m from a small country, tiny but full of beauty. If you look at it from above, from the sky, you’ll find the Pacific Ocean to the west, Colombia to the north, and Peru in all other directions. It’s a country of mountains, jungles, and coasts, filled with stories and incredible people.
I have been a consultant, project manager, university professor, musician, and writer. I have been a friend, brother, son, father, and partner. I’ve learned from the best, fallen, and risen many times, and each new path has always taken me further.
I’ve been writing since my teenage years, but I had never published my work beyond a personal blog, which is now closed to make way for this project.
I have two children who gave me their love, presence, and wisdom for 18 years each. In some of my writings, you might catch glimpses of their essence.
I live in Portugal with Niva, my muse, wife, and companion—and believe it or not, she’s all one person. We moved here not long ago, full of plans and dreams, and we are building them now. The road isn’t easy, but nothing worthwhile ever is.
My name? You could find it in the site’s records, but for now, just call me Soren—your guide through Epic Planet, a place where words come to life and stories are waiting to be discovered.
